Brand Story
More than 55 years ago, Mr. Chan Gui Chou, the founder of Kam Kee Cafe, opened a cafe at Shau Kei Wan Road in 1967. In Chinese, a brand with “Golden Signboard” means a brand with brand trust. With Mr. Chan’s vision of being a brand with “Golden Signboard”and providing quality products, the Cafe is called Kam Kee Cafe, which loosely translates to "Gold's Cafe".
In 2012, Mr. Chan decided to close the cafe due to rental pressure. Mr. Ray Chui Man Wai knew of Mr. Chan’s decision and does not want this collective memory of Hong Kong people to end. Thus, Mr. Ray Chui Man-wai insisted on continuing this human touch although he knew running this business was difficult. After 6 months of discussion, Mr. Chan finally agreed to let him continue to run Kam Kee Cafe.
In 2013, Mr. Ray Chui Man-wai took over the Kam Kee Cafe, the collective memory of Hong Kong people. Preserving the traditional cuisine, while continuously innovating and integrating diversified cuisines. Kam Kee Cafe grew and reopened in Sai Ying Pun. In the past 9 years, Kam Kee Cafe has opened more than 30 branches, which have won a lot of reputation and laid the foundation for the establishment of the small kingdom of Kam Kee.
Moreover, the successful business philosophy is also applied to Akam Laksa, Chuan Restaurant, Chiu Chow Restaurant, Hotpot Restaurant, promoting the local food culture. It extends to international airport which can reach people from all over the world and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the goal of becoming the fastest growing and most popular restaurant group in Hong Kong.
